Your information should be handled with restraint

Version 2026-DRAFT-1. Legal review is required before live collection.

This editable notice describes the portal’s intended data practices. It is not final legal advice and must be aligned with the approved receiving organization and all applicable jurisdictions.

Information collected

The portal collects name, email, optional telephone number, country of residence, citizenship or nationality, contribution amount and currency, contributor type, declarations, consent choices, and—only when required by configuration—occupation and employer.

It may also retain a one-way hash derived from network information for abuse prevention. The portal is not designed to store street addresses, identity documents, bank credentials, card data, CVVs, or mobile-money PINs.

Why information is used

  • To document donor intent and required declarations.
  • To determine which approved payment methods, if any, apply to a donor’s location.
  • To support receipts, reconciliation, compliance review, refunds, and required reporting.
  • To send initiative updates only after separate, optional consent.
  • To prevent abuse and protect the integrity of the portal.

Payment information

Supporters complete payments directly through Airtel Money or Zelle. This website never receives bank passwords, PINs, credit card information, debit card information, Zelle credentials, or Airtel Money PINs.

Public recognition

Donor names and amounts are not public by default. Public recognition requires an explicit donor opt-in and separate administrator approval. Legal disclosure may still be required regardless of public recognition preferences.

Sharing and international handling

Information may be handled by the BM8 USA volunteer support team and approved service providers such as hosting, database, email, and payment providers. The legal basis, international transfer safeguards, and processor agreements must be confirmed before launch.

Retention

Proposed retention period: TO BE CONFIRMED before launch. The final period must reflect applicable election, tax, dispute, privacy, and audit requirements. Records should be deleted or de-identified when they are no longer lawfully needed.

Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of marketing consent. Some campaign-finance records may need to be retained despite a deletion request.
